CELHENO

OIL, SEASONING PLANTS / HEMP / HENOLA

Cannabis sativa L.

An early, fertile, monoecious (female and male flowers on the same plant) sowing hemp variety, intended for the cultivation of hemp seeds, the production of various products from them

This variety is approved by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (USA)

Seed yield - 1.5-2.0 t/ha

Vegetation period - about 120 days.

Flowering time is early

The period from sowing to flowering is 48-55 days.

The number of monoecious plants (hermaphrodites) is very large

The number of male plants is very small

The number of female plants is very small

Plant height - 1.7-2.0 m

Resistance to lodging is high

Resistant to diseases

Biomass yield - up to 10.8 t/ha

The yield of stalks is small

The weight of 1000 seeds are about 14 g

Oil content in seeds - 30-31%

Protein content - 20-22%

Carbohydrate content - 26-28%

The number of essential oils in the inflorescences - 0.32%

Concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in dry weight - <0.013% (THC concentration of varieties allowed to be grown in the EU does not exceed 0.2%).

Cannabidiol (CBD) concentration in dry weight - about 1%

Adapted to the climatic conditions of Central (continental) Europe.

It can also be used for biogas production.

Under different growing conditions than those found in these studies, cultivar parameters may differ from those given here.

CULTIVATION OF CELHENO FOR RAW SEED

When preparing to grow seeded hemp, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the fiber hemp laws of the Republic of Lithuania. The cultivation of fiber hemp is supervised by the State Crop Production Service under the Ministry of Agriculture. Fiber hemp can only be grown in open ground, only certified seed must be used for sowing (the varieties are included in the general catalog of varieties of agricultural plant species of the EU), crops must be declared, samples must be provided to determine the amount of THC, etc.

CULTIVATION OF CELHENO FOR SEED (RAW MATERIAL)

THE SOIL: Hemp is sensitive to poor soil, so fertile mineral soils (loams and loams), drained and cultured peat soils are most suitable. Hemp grows best in fertile soils with a pH of 7.1-7.6. In order to grow hemp in a more acidic soil (pH up to 6.0), it should be limed first.

CROP ROTATION: Hemp is not very sensitive to crop rotation. The most suitable pre-sowing is black fallow, sedges, accumulative plants and perennial grasses (a 1:1 mixture of legumes and bellflowers). Hemp sown only after bell grasses (without legumes) grows less well. It is possible to creep hemp, but it is not advisable, because its yield decreases, diseases and pests appear.
After hemp, winter wheat works best because there are fewer weeds in the field. The following cropping rotation is possible: cereals with intercropping of grasses-perennial grasses-hemp-cumulative-hemp.

FERTILIZATION: It is better to sow hemp under pre-seeds fertilized with manure. When growing hemp for seeds, it is suggested to fertilize N 60-70 kg/ha, P 2 O 5 40-100 kg/ha, K 2 O 40-140 kg/ha (the rates are adjusted according to the richness of the soil). Too high rates of nitrogen fertilizers prolong the growing season of hemp and encourage excessive growth of plant biomass.

SOWING TIME: End of April - beginning of May, until the middle of May, when the soil warms up to 10 °C.

SEED RATE: 20-30 kg/ha (60 plants/m 2). It is sown 3-4 cm deep, 12.5-15 cm apart.

CROP CARE: No pesticides are used to grow hemp. It is better to choose less weedy soils, because only germinated hemp is susceptible to weed suppression. When the crop is dense enough, hemp overshadows weeds. If necessary, anti-bellow herbicides can be used.

REMOVAL: It is harvested when the seeds ripen in the panicles in the middle of the stem. Hemp seeds are threshed with a combine harvester (with the cedar raised as high as possible, cutting only the upper part of the plant with seeds, and the stem stubble is left or chopped and spread in the field. Hemp stems can make up 3-6 t/ha of biomass, which must be chopped and incorporated. Necessary adjust the gap between the drum and the sub-drum accordingly, the revolutions of the drum and select the appropriate sieves (the diameter of the holes of the sorting sieve is 3.25 mm), the knives must be very sharp. The seeds harvested by the harvester are immediately cleaned, dried at a temperature no higher than 30-35 °C until more than 13% humidity (8-11% is even better).

OTHER: Hemp flowers are frequented by bees.
